All About Tocha Music
Tocha is a Peruvian born artist whose passion for music took hold at the tender age of 6 when he used to dream of being an orchestra conductor, and at that age he absorbed himself in his obsession with music by starting to play the flute & the panpipes.
As a youngster, music, theatre, poetry & architecture were his main interests and that is when he learned to play the guitar and started to write his own poems, lyrics & music compositions. As a young adult he juggled his devotion to music alongside studying for a degree in architecture.
With an ever-growing thirst for music in one hand and a career in architecture in the other, he decided to leave Peru and go from South America to Europe at the start of this century and landed in England ready to discover new horizons & experiences.
Thanks to the 2008 financial crisis (thanks bankers!) he was forced to leave his career as an architect and chose to follow the path of music and since then has established a successful career, performing an average of 200 gigs annually throughout the UK, Europe & the Middle East; appearing in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Germany, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Scotland, Wales & Qatar.
Nowadays he plays, writes, sings, produces and performs his own compositions. His versatility in styles & rhythms goes from modern western music to latin, afro & tropical styles and his bilingual skills allow him to write songs in English as well as his native Spanish.
He says:
‘ I create my music based on my state of mind & soul, the acoustic roots of my instrument & the raw sounds of my vocals; the three crucial elements in the process. This is then complemented with the power & percussive sounds of other instruments to take the compositions to the next level. I enjoy going through the whole process, from the creative aspects to the recording & then performing live ‘
For him, music is a way of life; a way to communicate what you are, what you want and what you don’t and through this give to people something to hear and hopefully enjoy.
